Emma Marie Jones is a Melbourne-based poet, writer and editor. She’s interested in experimental form and writes a lot about sex, bodies, critical theory and identity.
Emma has studied Creative Writing at Adelaide University and Melbourne University in Australia, and Oxford University in England. She has interned at The Lifted Brow, is a previous editor of On Dit Magazine and previous Sex Editor at SPOOK Magazine. In 2015, she was the recipient of a Wheeler Centre Hot Desk Fellowship, and was shortlisted for the Scribe Nonfiction Prize for Young Writers.
In 2016, she was a recipient of the Felix Meyer travel scholarship for creative writers, and was longlisted for The Lifted Brow & RMIT non/fictionLab Prize for Experimental Non-Fiction.
Her short fiction, poems, essays and criticism have appeared in SPOOK, Scum, Seizure, The Lifted Brow, Meanjin, Stilts, Chart, The Suburban Review and elsewhere, and she has appeared at the National Young Writers’ Festival, the Emerging Writers’ Festival, the Digital Writers’ Festival and the Lee Marvin Readings Series.
